Auto Detailing Tips & Tricks!
Keeping your car clean does more than just improve how it looks—it also improves resale or trade-in value. That being said, cleaning your car isn’t always easy. It has lots of nooks and crannies and because you probably spend a lot of time in your car, it collects dust and dirt from the world around it. Here are some easy auto detailing tips to keep your car clean and beautiful – from the pros!
- Rubbing alcohol removes tree sap. If you park under a tree that drops sap on your car, you know how difficult it can be to get off and how damaging it can be to your paint. Instead of letting that sap eat through your paint, remove it with a little bit of rubbing alcohol. Soak a rag or cotton swab and use it to clear away that sticky sap – it’s both safe and effective!
- Get a better snow removal tool. Ditch your snow brush! Most snow brushes can create nasty scratches and swirls. We recommend a Sno Brum Original Snow Removal Tool with Telescoping Handle – it not only is safe for your paint but helps you move snow off your car – fast!
- Clean your glass is different directions. When you dry off the interior of your windshields, wipe from side to side, in a horizontal direction. When drying off the exterior, wipe up and down, in a vertical manner. This ensures that your streaks don’t line up and that you can actually see out of your windshield after a thorough cleaning. Bonus tip: don’t use the same rag to wipe on a cleaner as you use to wipe it off.
- Get rid of pet hair. While a vacuum works just fine for removing pet hair from your car’s interior, there are attachments to ensure that it is really removed from the seats and flooring. We recommend FurzOff – it works fantastic!
- Use two buckets to wash your car. If you’re going to undertake the task of washing your car by hand, fill one bucket with soapy water and one bucket with clean water. Apply the soap out of one bucket and then use the other bucket to rinse your towel or mitt after you clean each area. This will prevent you from spreading dirt from one part of the car to another.
- Clean glass and chrome with steel wool. While this might sound a bit extreme, steel wool won’t damage glass or chrome and can clear off serious haze or road grime and make both shine again. Use a little glass cleaner and then rub the steel wool across the surface, drying it afterwards with a towel.
- Invest in rubber floor mats. If you are looking for an easy way to reduce the vacuuming and deep cleaning your car’s carpets require, we recommned WeatherTech floor mats. They’re laser cut to fit a variety of makes and models – this way you get a set that fits your vehicle’s floor layout exactly.
With these car detailing tips you can get and keep your car spick and span in no time!
